Holiday Closing Dates

Hi everyone - sorry for no updates in awhile, it has been so busy here at KittyCat Boutique headquarters!

We are going to be on holiday very soon (honeymoon eek!) the dates will be 5th June to the 12th June. You will still be able to place orders during this time, but I will not be able to process any orders until I get back.

If you want to place your orders before I go away please have them in by Thursday 3rd June 2pm - all orders placed BEFORE this time will ship before I go.

I am not sure how much access I will have to emails but will will try best I can to periodically check them.

I had hoped to have the new designs up before I left, but I do not think this will happen now - so will leave you with someone to look forward to for when I return.

The Frustrations of January

I have already emailed all customers and also left a notice on Facebook and on the order tracking page. Over Christmas we sold out of almost all our stock. Re-stocking has proved something of a challenge! Due to weather conditions, the couriers are having troubles in delivering. We are waiting one last shipment which should have arrived last week, we are trying to trace it at the moment.

This is so incredibly frustrating for us, and we thank-you very much for your patience while waiting for your orders. As we stated in the emails that we sent out, if you prefer to receive a full refund, please get in touch and request this option. Paws and fingers crossed that the last shipment will turn up to today then we will be working right through the night to get these orders out tomorrow for you!

A New Year, a fresh start! I always used to get quite depressed at new year. I used to think argh another year, and again I have not accomplished anything! Well this year I have been determined to think differently - and be excited for what could be possible for this brand new year.

It has been a difficult time for so many, which is why it is so important that we remain positive and dream of better things for all of us! I think we are the lucky ones - our cats show us so much unconditional love - I feel sorry for those who do not have a cat in their life!

KittyCat Boutique has some very exciting new products in development and I cannot wait to share these with you. I would like to take this chance to say a great big thank-you to each and everyone of my most wonderful customers. Thanks very much for the support while I had to close down to help look after my partner - and thanks very much for coming back here once I re-opened!

Sneak Peek of the new Designer Cat Collars!!!!!!!

Here are the new designs we have been talking about for so long with you! These are going to be our new designer cat collars. We have custom designed the pattern and now instead of a grosgrain ribbon we are using a cotton tape, which we find to be much more durable for cat collars - especially for those cats who like to scratch away at their collars!

What will happen to the current designer cat collars? Well they will change to a new category called simply cat collars. In time we will be discontinuing them - but don't worry that won't be for awhile yet!

The new designs are available in the following designs: Cupcakes on Pink, Cupcakes on Blue, Fish Skeleton on Blue, Fish Skeleton on Hot Pink, Flying Hearts, Toadstools, Hedgehogs and Toadstools, Cat Face on Pink and finally Cat Face on Green.

They will be priced at £4.95 each, and should be available for purchase this week.

This is just the start - we have many more designs that we will be adding to this range VERY soon. So keep watching this space.

Here are the last posting dates for Christmas, if you were wanting to get your order to arrive in time for Christmas. Please remember that cat collars and some catnip toys are made to order, we have put next to the dates what date you should order by so it can leave in time.

CAT WELFARE WEEK

To help raise awareness of feline stress and behavioural issues, The Cats Protection and CEVA Animal Health have joined forces to launch The Cat Welfare Week which will run from 23rd to 29th of November.

They are going to try and set a new World record for the number of people taking a cat nap in one place. The event will take place at Old Spitalfields Market in East London at 12pm on Monday 23rd of November. We wish we could join in but we are too far away!

New Designs

Remember awhile back I mentioned I would be designing some of my own cat collars? Well it took some time but I found an excellant and highly talented graphic artist who was able to work with my doodles and drawings! The result is the first of the designs have been sent off and I am waiting for samples to come back to make sure the colours are all alright.

I am super excited about this and only wish I could share the designs right just now with you. But I can't!

With the postal strikes delaying our shipments it looks like we are looking just after Christmas before they will be ready for sale (all going well!). Stay tuned and we will update here on the blog when we have more information.

Cat Walking

While out for our Sunday morning walk with the dogs, Confucious decided she wanted to come too! I was totally worried sick about her, because it is a very popular dog walk area, and we all know how much dogs love to chase cats!

Here are some piccies of our wee walk - note I am wearing 3 jumpers, a wooly hat and a jacket because it was cold! I just wish I had put some make up on that day!

It reminded of the days before we had dogs, and we used to take our cats out for a walk. We never put them on a harness - we didn't need to. We would go for a walk and have 4 cats following behind us. The neighbours used to get a good laugh from it!

I would just like to take some time out and say a great big THANK-YOU to all my wonderful customers. As you know we have been incredibly busy this month, which caused us to run OUT of stock. Not only did we run out, but we did have trouble getting more stock in.

Lewis and his happy ever after story

This is a picture of Lewis sent in by his mum, he is wearing one of the Reflective cat collars that we have. Lewis hasn't always been such a picture of health and happiness. Earlier in the year Lewis was a stray and in quite a bad way. Luckily for him he adopted his new mum (we liked that part!) and has settled in really well with his new mum and three other siblings.

Its great to hear of happy endings, it could have all turned out very different if it wasn't for the kindness of his new mum. For taking the time to send in the picture and making me smile, a catnip cushion is in the post for you Lewis - now promise me you will share with your siblings!

Help Save The Scottish WildCat

Here at KittyCat Boutique we have just become aware of the Scottish WildCat Association. They are an excellant charity that are fighting to save these magnificent cats by supporting captive breeding-for-release programmes, scientific research and in-the-field conservation.

At the moment there are only 400 Scottish WildCats left in the wild, and not very many in the captive breeding programme. These animals are on the critically endangered list. They need our help to survive.

What can you do to help?

* WildCats are not as afraid of water like our domestic cats and are known to be able to fish

Very Sad Fact:

* 92% of all WildCat deaths are caused by humans (gunshots, snares, road accidents)

Please help support this excellant charity, and lets put a stop to another species dying out forever at the hands of humans. I think we have lost so much in the past, its time we started looking after our world and the vulnerable that dwell here.

What are we up to?

We have just finished shopping for lots more designs! And also re-ordering some of the old favourites!

The skull prints coming in are green/black, orange/black, lilac/black, red/black and we have re-ordered the black/white and pink/black ones as well. Keep checking the blog for more updates.

More designs to look forward to ~ ladybirds, new strawberries, new dots, frogs on pink and frogs on blue, lots of different stripes, and more designs in the warm autumn series, daisies on pink, and more! Again keep checking on the blog for more information as they become available.

Christmas is coming - I know no-one wants to talk about it yet! But we will be opening our Christmas shop soon. Look forward to santa claus collars, rudolph collars, snowflakes and more. This year we will also be adding extra gifts for your cats, so they can enjoy Christmas to the full.

Something also very exciting in the pipeline too! Its been my dream for a long time to design my own collars and toys. And I am now working on this. Preliminary testing has gone good, fingers crossed I can get this all done by Christmas. Baby Pigs!

Today we went to Pardovan Farm Shop to get our eggs and veggies, and when we arrived we were greeted by some new baby pigs! They were born on Tuesday - so not even a week old yet! Unfortunately one of them died on Friday. Heres some piccies of the gorgeous wee things (I tried to persuade Mr. KittyCat Boutique to take one home - but he wouldn't let me!).

Back from holiday!

Thats me back from my holiday. Not that I got to go anywhere because I got really sick and ended up in bed for a week!

Never mind, at least I feel nice and rested. I started yesterday on all the orders that came in while I was on holiday and all the orders that were placed up until Sunday 26th July will ship tomorrow. I worked pretty much through the night last night and will do the same again today and tonight.

Smudge the gorgeous fashionista!

How beautiful is Smudge. Smudge's new mum has sent in a gorgeous piccie of her. We think she looks like a princess here at KittyCat Boutique. Smudge has not had it easy and has experianced being unwanted by her original family and also sadly losing her litter of four kittens. She has gone from being quiet and sad to bubbly, happy and contented in her new home.

Smudge's mum describes her as her best friend who makes her smile every day. Thankfully Smudge has found a loving home and we wish them both all the best.

Thank-you very much Smudge's mum for sending in the beautiful piccie - we will be sending you a catnip cushion. Enjoy!

What are we working on this week?

We have several projects we are working on here at KittyCat Boutique. As always its a bit of a juggle trying to get orders out and work on new things but if we skip a meal and have less sleep - I'm sure we can fit it all in!!!

First of all next week we will be working on sending out all orders next day (excluding weekends). So for all orders placed before 5pm British Time your order will ship out next day.

Second just placed an order for more of the bell charms - haven't seen our amazing bell charms yet? Take a look here. We will be adding to the collection with a mouse, lucky cat, ducky - too, too cute!

We also have a diamante cat collar charm we will be adding.

We would really like to get some of our amazing new prints photographed and added to the site next weekend - this is probably one of the more time consuming activities due to our lack of skills in the photography department!

One last point - we are thinking about adding the google checkout as another option for paying - have any thoughts on this? Send us an email and let us know if you would like this option as well.

One last thing we are working on over the next few weeks are new catnip toy designs. I have been scouring all the manufacturers items and NOBODY are making cute cat toys. Why????? I have actually asked this question to manufacturers and normally get the reply but cat people don't buy for their cats. Well we will be designing and making catnip toys that not only look good for you (lets face it we are realists the cats don't care what they look like!) but are jam packed filled with very smelly catnip (which we know is all a cat is really looking for in a toy!).

We had our website re-designed and absolutely LOVE it! A great big thank-you to Cicily at www.augustafternoon.com for doing such a great job.

I have just had a big delivery of new designs and will be working this easter holiday getting them made up and photographed. Also we have put the designer cat collars on sale for the moment - perfect time to grab yourself a bargain!

Well I hope the weather where you are is better than here! We have grey skies, and freezing winds. But aren't those little lambs in the fields just now just too cute! I want one LOL

What a week it has been. Last Thursday the website went down and we were unable to process any payments! I can happily say every-thing is up and running again smoothly. I would also like to say a big THANK-YOU to everyone for your patience.

Then the hours turned to days, and the days turned to weeks and the weeks turned into months. I slowly realised - they were never coming back for me.
That must have been scary, how did you cope? It was really tuff - I had a lot of fights with the neighbours cats. I lost parts of my ear! I didn't go hungry though because the people I now call mum and dad, fed me every day. Really yummy food. They tried to speak to me, but I was too frightened of people by then and too upset. I kept trying to get back into my old house - but it was empty.
So how did you get to trust your new mum and dad? Well they were very clever. They knew they were not going to catch me very easily! One day just before Fireworks Night they cat-napped me and brought me inside. It was the first time I had been inside a house since I was abandoned, ten months previously. It was quite scary at first, but nice too. My mum stayed with me and slept on the floor for a week right next to me every night. Then she took me to the vets and said I was neutered (but I don't really know what that means). Been living here ever since.
Do you have any other siblings? Oh yeah - there were four other cats living here before me, and two dogs - I beat them all up. Nobody is tougher than me LOL. Except Confucious - shes a very tough girl!
